We wrapped up Part 1 of the Reaching Out series on Sunday. Part 1 was all about getting close to God. We finished out this part by taking a closer look at Worship.
We’ve been use to thinking that worship involves instruments and music. But Worship is so much more than that. Worship…is a life style, bringing glory to God in everything we do. Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as livingsacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Let go of Tradition and hold on to the commands of God. Mark 7:6-8 “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.”
Worship God through everything…for He is worthy! Worth-ship…Worship
We had another great night last Wednesday - this time rediscovering our call to DO something! To be Revolutionary Warriors. We studied the story of Jonathan and his armor bearer - and how the failure didn’t cripple Jonathan’s resolve.

Transit is taking a group to ‘The Call DC’, this August. Call 843.873.9128 or email web@iamtransit.org to to sign up.
Transit took over the world last week, well at least our little piece of it. It was a great week…
You can read the review of the gathering {just scroll down}. But what you haven’t heard yet is:
Thursday night we hung out, ate and watched ‘Amazing Grace‘ - great movie…the trailer is below.
Then Friday night a bunch of couples came to the cafe’ for our first Couple’s Cafe’. We played games, Bruce and Joyce Ball dispensed some wisdom from their experience and we ate like kings and queens!
It was a long but great week…and I also shot a quick photo of this bird which chose to stand on the half wall just outside our offices. One crazy looking bird.
So I stumbled across a site today written by one from the Transit community who has trouble keeping her thoughts to herself {that’s a good thing}, is really funny {seriously}, and has a great heart for College students connecting to Jesus.
Ladies and gentlemen, the incomparable Erin Young.
So read and then support her {instead of that Starbucks you were going to get today}.
Pocket night…I love pocket night. It’s where we sit around tables in groups of 5 - 10 and talk about the scriptures and how God is working them into our lives. Last night we talked about the impact of being salt and light, about how we handle our promises and what Jesus meant when He corrected the human definition of an eye for an eye and the heart behind it all.
Worship was awesome as well - even the 4 1/2 minutes of silent reflection in the middle…
Sunday night was amazing in the living room. We had a great discussion on Prayer and how powerful it can be. Prayer is not talking to a big cloud in the sky, it is communicating to our healer, our provider, our savior. When we stop talking to God like he’s a million miles away, and start talking to him like someone sitting next to us, then we can have an intimate conversation.
Most importantly, we must only go to God when we are pure in heart. 1 Peter 4:7, “The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.” TNIV. The NIV puts it this way, “The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.” God revealed himself in our mist through a perfect example of this.
Next week is going to be just as awesome. We’re going to be continuing our series on Reaching Out. We’ll be discussing how to get closer to God first through prayer, then through his word. Join us for an amazing experience.
This post is a week late (sorry), but I wanted to give everyone the chance to hear the teaching from our “guest from within”…within the Transit community that is. Tim Wolf spoke a week ago and did a great job bringing things together. Take a listen and comment if you like.

Last night was a great time together. I want to thank everyone who took the lead on getting things set up {BERNIE & KIM, WENDY, ADAM & LAURA!!}. We hit on being light in the world and learning that our anger can and must be controlled.
Oh, and we learned how to make a lazer…check out the audio
21. All the living things on earth died—birds, domestic animals, wild animals, small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the people. 22. Everything that breathed and lived on dry land died. 23. God wiped out every living thing on the earth—people, livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and the birds of the sky. All were destroyed. The only people who survived were Noah and those with him in the boat. 24. And the floodwaters covered the earth for 150 days. – Gen. 7:21-24
When God comes in and floods your heart with his love and his mercy every sin must die. To me when God wiped out everything that was unclean he put the world through a serious detox. And the thing that caught my attention the most was not only did he repeat himself in what was killed, making it clear that that was first priority. But if you look at the next part He left the earth still for 150 days after the rain, even before he began revealing new life to Noah and his family.
Spiritually me must do the same. I mean first we must get rid of all our junk. And I know this is the part that sucks but “Wait on the Lord!”. Even if it means for 150 days. Then he will start a new. I think that a lot of times we miss this aspect of our relationship.
How many times do we stop talking during our prayers and say “ok God for the next 2 min I will be silent and let you speak”. I know he gets frustrated when we don’t, its like a one sided conversation. I hate it when I talk to someone and they ask me a question and right when I go to answer them they walk away. “Bla bla bla bla Amen!”
I just can’t get this picture out of my mind, I mean this must be what God feels toward us sometimes. But during this still time, this detox, understand and know that He loves you and He is putting His will in motion. And I believe that when we ask, He will give us what we want, but when we wait on Him, He gives us what we need.
When we ask the question, when we need to know, when he has a word. Lets let him speak, lets give him the time to fill this gap. So this weak my goal is to take more time and wait on the Lord.
